The key to easily drawing a doodle of a rose is to start in the center. If you don’t you end up with a weird lopsided flower. Don’t judge your petal shapes just start with the folded petals in the center by drawing thinner shapes and then start making larger petal shapes as you move outward like the above image. Make sure that you place each petal off center of the ones you’ve already drawn so that no petal lines line up.
When you draw a bud start with one outside petal, then draw a thin profile of one right next to it and then fill in the center with either a circular scribble or a few thin petal shapes.
